Volunteering is one of the most life-enhancing, self-esteem-boosting things you can do. If you're someone who keeps saying you INTEND to volunteer don't let 2026 go past without following through. Charities are depending on you! π

What does it mean to be an ethical company?
What does an ethical approach really mean for a business - and how does Charitylog measure up?
What does βethicalβ mean for a private company? I don't mean grand CSR posturing or greenwashing by multinationals. We came up with 9 key principles that can be followed by any modest-sized independent UK company.
Then we tested ourselves on them.

A purple ad saying 'we don't need to tell people how great Charitylog is. Our customers do it for us!' then five gold stars and a quote from Essex Sight's Jonathan Dixon: 'the versatility, security and credibility of this software has directly contributed to us securing contracts.' There's an image of Charitylog's case study web page, plus a website address: www.charitylog.co.uk
π Psst, charities! Most people who use the #Charitylog CRM heard about it through recommendations from other charities (so we let them do the talking...) πhttps://bit.ly/4p37NMV

So true - and in most cases it's knee-jerk politicisation, usually without all the facts, without nuance and without a sense of humour!

Tech should be a relief, not a burden
Tech is a tool that, when used well, will ease the burden by making your work easier, faster and more effective.
Good technology should be a relief not a burden. But what are the best practical steps to introducing new tech to your charity? Read our new blog on the @acevo.bsky.social website π shorturl.at/gOph2

Great list. Maybe it's covered here already but how about negotiator? In a previous life I had to convene a monthly meeting of comms leads across local NHS and a big city council to agree shared comms messages about a citywide health and social care transformation. Tough learning curve!!!

Don't be an afterthought!
Why settle for a CRM that's little more than a repurposed sales tool?
Some big, well-known names in the CRM world claim they offer 'nonprofit' versions of their software for charities. Some even offer free licences. But are these genuinely good deals for charities, or is it a case of 'If it sounds too good to be true...'? π shorturl.at/zA4hd

A testimonial for the Charitylog CRM, illustrated by a picture of a woman in a lanyard giving advocacy support to a middle-aged man filling out a form: "Charitylog gives us a full picture of the support weβre providing to each person. We log their personal details, next of kin, all the professionals theyβre involved with, every communication with, or relating to the person, any work we do to support them. We can pull reports out for our funders to show exactly what we do on a daily basis and the difference itβs making to the personβs life." Evidence published in Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology (Aug '24) suggests kindness decreases social isolation and loneliness. It's also associated with lower blood pressure and the stress hormone cortisol. Volunteering is connected with living longer and functioning better as we age! π
