This led me down a rabbit hole, within which I found this delightful set of lists:

I'm a pacifist.
I also know when to shut the fuck up.
Catch my drift?

Which NY Times Opinion columnist caused you to roll your eyes most violently?

At 72, my general response to "normal for people in your age bracket to do" is to say, "Fuck right off."

Of course my general response to this story is to ignore it altogether.

As Buffalo Bill said in Deadwood, "Let me go to hell in my own way."

Announcers: Nobody wants to see this.

Two things about this one.

First, the white fist, showing that at least one white UM player got it and was willing to stand with his teammates.

Second, several Michigan State players on the other sideline were doing the same thing.

It's also the case that many of them read all sorts of genre fiction. (If Pride and Prejudice isn't a romance novel, I don't know what is. Heck, Oedipus Rex is noir AF.)

It's that they fail to understand "genre."

Great, now I'm thinking about the Defecation of Prague (1618).
Thanks, pal.

Fewest in the NFL, total plays offense.
Third most in the NFL, total plays on defense.

He must have been exhausted.

My first thought:

Detroit's offense must have been really bad in 1994.

English is a West Germanic language whose grammar mostly derives from its origin.

I hope you've noticed that I'm not arguing with the general response to what I said, which was to entirely miss my lighthearted intent, which is my fault, and for which I've apologized.

Still, I can't let this pass.

Oh. I love your work, btw.

There's a period after "here." It's not a run on sentence.
I still failed to sound as lighthearted as I intended. That I'll own.

Peace.

What I screwed up was neither pedantry nor accuracy.
What I failed at was being funny.

Every day I learn how easy it is to write something whose tone doesn't come through. I'll be better. I hope.

Apologies, then. Trying to be pedantically lighthearted and failed. My fault entirely.

"Envious," unless it's your committed monogamous partner and you're not having sex with them every day.

Writing lesson n+1: This isn't Latin, this is English. Word order matters.

I hope you're smiling at this very amusing and utterly trivial little thing.

Reagan’s 3-Year, 25% Cut in Tax Rate Voted by Wide Margins in the House and Senate (Published 1981) In a decisive victory for President Reagan, the House of Representatives today approved the Administration's tax cut bill.

Some of us remember this, and have drawn the appropriate conclusions along the way since:
