Exciting new project from IceLab affiliate Olivier Keech - harnessing heat to grow shrimp and fish up here in Umeå!

New @science.org paper shows early-2020s methane spike driven mostly by a temporary slowdown in the atmosphere’s methane removal and climate-boosted natural emissions. IceLab’s @grocherros.bsky.social helped quantify methane from running waters, improving understanding of the global methane budget.

19–23 January 2026 we held the Arctic Meeting for Adaptive Mechanisms in Biological Systems and featured talks in physics, biology, math + ecology.
It was the close of a Swedish–Korean STINT collaboration but opens new research in the Stress Response Modelling center.

The second Forum for the Arctic and Antarctic took place in Stockholm, 10-11 November 2025. It had a varied program with sessions from both early- and senior-career researchers, funding agencies, and other organisations, aiming to discuss future needs and directions for Swedish polar research.
