Wow, just the glaring lack of respect or understanding of boundaries is genuinely astounding. I don't understand why people feel like they have the right to defile an artist's work just because they feel like it or because it's online.

100% it's just virtue signaling, like I don't want fan artists to be targeted at all but it's kinda like if you're gonna DMCA at least do it across the board - there's no way you can make me believe the fan artist is somehow more of a liability to the brand than the trump admin. 🙄😒

Which kinda means jack to say you don't support the trump admin but won't issue a DMCA or anything, and then simulatenously they then will strike down or legally go after small creatives and businesses like yourself.

The only thing I do know of Nintendo suing the trump admin over was tariffs.

Afaik, they have spoken out when the trump admin has used their IP stating they've never given permission (both during the song usage and this recent one they openly stated they don't endorse politics), but I believe you're correct that they haven't actually issued a DMCA or legal action beyond that

I thought I read something that a spokesperson for Nintendo already spoke out about this and it resulted in the website for the generator being taken down.

Already was a big fan, but now so much respect for @kyrakupetsky.bsky.social for standing up for what is right, even if it means losing this wonderful thing she built. I hope other (bigger) creators support Kyra and speak up/fight back.

A bluesky post from Kyra, artist behind chikin nuggit, laying out what is happening to their IP. Buzzfeed and its corporate shareholders are feeding chikn nuggit to the gen ai for training. The OP states they are strongly against this and are devastated.

Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

That's the absolute worst! Several times I've also told YouTube not to recommend me certain creators and then it just either keeps recommending them or it ramps up how often it recommends them, and it's like thank you for legitimately nothing 😂🙄
