Off on holiday next week, and boy, do I need it. 2026 has not been the smoothest for me so far, as a gross understatement. Hoping I feel a bit more myself again on the other side.

Art matters. And what do we do with things that matter? We protect them.
Here is information about H.R. 7661, a US book banning bill that explicitly targets books about trans people, and what you can do right now to help stop it.
Paperback out! Get yer weird, queer dragons here.
Book 3 of the trilogy is almost out again, so there's basically no wait if you want to begin Micah's journey today. I hope it finds those who need a story like this just now.
I first wrote this book when I was deeply closeted--it was writing this series that helped me discover my truth about my own relationship with gender, and so it's been important to me to re-visit it with that deeper sense of self.
The author / the first page / the cover.
I'm posting one of the photos from the launch of OG Pantomime, back in 2013 when I was 24. Little did I know all the ups and downs of the industry to come. Little did I know I'd get another shot at releasing this book not once more, but twice more!
With Emberclaw out in paperback this month, the Dragon Scales duology that begins with Dragonfall is complete! Reaction images from my friend Arana. A bit about the books:
Dragonfall & Emberclaw make up the complete Dragon Scales duology. Emberclaw is out in paperback this month! About the books:
I literally dedicated Dragonfall to her. She's my favorite author and I met my husband bonding over her books.
π΄ββ οΈ A heist
π² A tiny flying wyvern named Jaculus
βοΈ Academic trials
π₯΅ Tasteful dry humping and lustful hair washing
πΊοΈ No foreplay without loreplay--my world bible for this series is over 100 pages long
βοΈ Experimental narrative positions, quite descriptive prose, slower pacing
π Much pining
π‘οΈ Said dragon has to convince human to trust him so he can kill them and rip open a veil to save other dragons
β€οΈβπ₯ But what happens when he starts falling for the human?
Also featuring, in no particular order:
π A queer celebratory world
β§οΈ A nonbinary lead whose physical sex is never revealed
ποΈ Epic romantic fantasy
π Dragons as gods
π§ββοΈ Dragons can turn into basically hot elves
π‘ The last male dragon has unwittingly soul-bonded to a human and is big mad about it
β¨οΈ But it might help him become the prophet he's destined to be

Greetings from another soldier in the army of authors telling you about the Waterstones pre-order sale.
Emberclaw's paperback wasn't in the selection, but it comes out NEXT WEEK if you'd like to grab it! Masquerade's hardcover is 25% off, or all three paperbacks when they come out in August.
For this week's paired reads, I'm highlighting two gentle, cosy sci-fi novellas. I figure we could all probably use that right about now. So take a look at Moonsoul by @nathaniel.luscombe and A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers (who always chooses absolute bangers as titles).
It's so weird sometimes being with someone since we were 16. I can remember this version of him so well, but now he's got a beard, more muscle, and the beginnings of silver in his hair. Still a fox.
The fact this photo was taken 20 years ago is wild to me. Here we are in summer 2006 as teenagers. I don't often post photos of my other half on socials, but his hair is so long it basically conceals his identity. π
Happy to help reveal the cover for The Hopeless Romantics Guide to Enchantment, coming out from @titanbooks later this year! I have a sapphic fairy tale inspired romance in this.
I'm in amazing company, with friends & authors I've long admired. Edited by @marieoregan8101 and @paul.kane.376!
Like, no joke, hope Ilia has a good support network around him the next few days. That's gotta be a living nightmare.
Meanwhile, Shaidorov just had his wildest dream come true.
Shocking.
Dang, he bricked it.
FIFTH ELEMENT OPERA. That was brilliant.
February 24th, I shall be journeying across to Glasgow to do an event with Katalina Watt to celebrate the launch of Saltswept, plus the paperback of Emberclaw. It will be chaired by the one and only Hannah Kaner, and it'll be a cracking event. So come to Waterstones Argyle St at 7 pm!
I come bearing news of upcoming events this February!
First up, next Saturday, the 21st, I've joined Capital Sci Fi con (@capitalscificon) here in Edinburgh at the Corn Exchange. The event is to raise money for Childrens' Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).
We are STUNNED at how perfect the paperback version of Emberclaw looks next to Dragonfall. The final book of the Dragon Scales duology will have you captivated with the dragons, fantasy, and romance of it all.
Preorder now, available February 24

digital illustration inspired by circus posters but in deep teal and purple, with a swirly border and title "pantomime" in pale blue. In the centre is a white teen in purple upside down on a trapeze, above a ghostly blue lady holding a disc with a dragonfly on it, and large damselfly wings behind her. at the top are two small figures reaching to each other on trapeze, and at the bottom two small figures in fancy pantomime outfits of a price and princess.
Fanart of Pantomime by @lrlam.bsky.social! Book 1 in the Micah Grey Series (book 3 rereleases soooon). Inspired by circus posters & tarot a little

Just a wee note that I'm closed to blurb requests for a while. It's something I struggle with at the best of times (I'm slow + a mood reader + it feels like work when there's a deadline), so as soon as things get intense, it's the first thing to go. I'll try to do ones I already accepted. Thanks!
In December, I went to Blackness Castle as a bit of book research, so I'm sharing a few photos! My next fantasy project is loosely inspired by the Border Wars, the Reivers, and the Wars of the Rough Wooing (so 1550s to 1650s or so).
3D version of Masquerade with 3D versions of the magnets, with the words: "Free With Purchase. Buy Masquerade and Receive a Set of Micah Grey Magnets. Open to US residents only while supplies last. Ends March 16.
We know you're obsessed with the Micah Grey trilogy by @lrlam.bsky.social, but now you can get themed magnets! Preorder Masquerade, the third and final book of this propulsive fantasy series and fill out the form. Just like a carnival attraction, you won't be able to look away!

Anyone want weird, queer dragons?
Thank you so much to everyone who donated. Made the end of the month much easier, and they're both so grateful.
