I purchased the kit from a German retailer when it went out, irrc it was qrp-projects, but I think it doesn't exist anymore.

Yes I love it! 😁
Well I was a little bit too busy to work on the QMX these days, so I decided to indulge myself with a new rig. My KX1 would like to welcome X6100 in the family !
A new fork from aprsdroid with interesting features (mic-e, igate, digi, BLE, etc...) is showing up, it's based on OSM. Check it out : #aprs

While waiting for the news psu boards to arrive, I'm working on my #CW with Vband and a BH8DZE usb interface for the paddle. I had to remap the buttons 2 and 3 for it to work. On Arch linux it's done with :
xinput set-button-map 13 1 3 2 4 5 6 7
Where 13 is the Vband interface number.

Back in the days of punch cards, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and a software patch meant a piece of tape...🦖
Picture of Qmx pcb1 board with arrows showing D106 and D108
As suspected, not only D108 but D106 died too. I ordered two sets of boards, but now I have to figure out WHY these two died. #QMX
I looked for info on the net, it seems that a 5.6V zener diode failed shorted. I'll have to check it out. I like how clever this little thing is but come on, hardware failure by just pulling the plug ? For a rig meant to be used outside ? 😬
Hmmm... I feel like a love/hate relationship building up with the QMX. Just after flashing it for the first time and exploring the menus, I accidentally pulled the power plug and the qmx crashed. I can acces the terminal to get a diagnostic screen but that's all. apparently I killed the 5V board.
Picture of unsoldering braid soaked with hard rosin
I recently had to unsolder some pcb connectors and melted some old hard rosin on unsoldering braid. Damn, it works better than my copper braid, it literally sucks the solder in the braid.
Damn this one was tricky! #morsle
I've heard on the excellent podcast #hamradioworkbench that KR6ZY from electronics.halibut.com/product/kv4p... is doing a V2 because there was some points to be optimized rf wisely :-)
Not easy to fit the toroids and evenly spread the wire on the QMX, it's tight !
The unsigned.io firmware has a limitation on TX power at 17dBm even on hardware able to tx more, looking at the source it's in sx127x.cpp line 342? Now the issue is , 've found how to recompile it with arduino-cli but can't upload it, it needs a stk500 programmer.

Thanks for reminding me this, I wanted to go back on this daily challenge, here we go !
Happy new year ! What is this display above your monitor ?

About what next, what about a linbpq node/bbs lora packet radio ? 😀
Pas de raquettes sans raclette ? 😁
And I got to say a big THANK YOU to F1OYP for the customized linbpq config file, it saved me a big lot of time to have an operational node.
