Ten years ago today, Zootopia was released. It's hard for me to believe because this Oscar-winning animated film featuring a bunny and a fox solving a mystery is the reason that made me want to look more and study animation. I owe it so much and I adore it with all my heart.

Have lots and lots of ideas stuck in your head for years on end?
Write it down.
Make a backlog as big as possible. It will help you in the long run, especially if you need ideas in art.
Your brain NEEDS space for other stuff later in life.

It's true. You don't need a big budget to make an indie project. All you need are the resources that you have around you.
Hell, the parody indie project I'm working on literally has no budget and I got all of the utilities I have at my disposal.
Speak louder for the folks in the back! I swear people always expect indie to be high budget and extremely polished. Doesn't have to be! I think as artists. We need to normalize things being scrappy and rough. Especially if we want to make a movement.
You don’t really need a budget to do indie animation, the problem is “indie animation” has been reduced to bigger budget/studio works with insane frame-by-frame animation, a big crew/voice cast and a merch line instead of scrappy shit you make in a week by yourself or with some friends in Flash.
