Brown was an early mentor to Tasuku Honjo, who's always acknowledged him (including in his Nobel lecture over 4 decades later, on a completely different topic)
When we were creatin a small exhibition here in @ccii-kyoto.bsky.social, Prof Honjo insisted that it include Don Brown (pic is from a panel)

Here at @ccii-kyoto.bsky.social we had a workshop with @victora.bsky.social @danmucida.bsky.social Angelina Bilate (Rockefeller) & Carolina Lucas (Yale) where I asked them to discuss with the students & postdocs failed projects & negative results, including when to walk away from a project.

New findings from Zhang, Honjo, Chamoto et al. @ccii-kyoto.bsky.social indicate that a subset of cancer cells expressing CTAs is sufficient to evoke overall antitumor immunity by broadening T cell responses to other neoantigens. rupress.org/jem/article/...

Congratulations @jcstark.bsky.social and the team, antibody-lectin chimeras (AbLecs), a new modality for cancer immune therapy, now published @natbiotech.nature.com. These bispecifics can block glyco-immune checkpoint receptor ligands directly at the immune synapse/activate immune effector functions

These 2 landmark papers came out at the start of my PhD. Science and clinic. Literally back to back. It has been an enduring inspiration ever since to be a part of this wonderful experiment called immunology.

In the same issue, Revy, Fischer and Durandy showed that the same gene, AID, was responsible for a mysterious form of hyper-IgM syndrome that was not linked to mutations in the CD40 pathway, demonstrating that AID also controlled CSR and SHM in humans.
