He wrote the Berkeley band’s most enduring songs including the Vietnam War protest anthem “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-To-Die Rag” and “Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine,” a Hot 100 hit. McDonald was 84.

Charging out the gate with an attitude and demanding the south take notice. Morbid Visionz leaves the crowd with ringing ears and a sore neck. Peach Blush, a mix of alt-rock and post-punk, with flashes of garage rock and hardcore—largely inspired by the 80s wave of bands like Hüsker Dü, Dinosaur Jr or Mission of Burma. It creates a unique, surfy, and heavy sound. Recently signed to Sunday Drive Records with their release of “Eradication of the Mind” the band is carving their name in the wave of alternative music with a refreshing sound that leaves an impression. Vincent Neil Emerson returns to the White Water for a two night stand on Saturday, April 4th and an early 6pm show on Sunday the 5th 🔥 We do anticipate these shows selling out - advance tickets available @ www.whitewatertavern.com Vincent Neil Emerson has become a staple among folk and country music fans nationwide, celebrated for his honest tales of life on the road, heartbreak, and struggles of all sorts. His first LP, Fried Chicken & Evil Women, from 2019, established him as a refreshing voice in the modern country music landscape. The songs from that first album were charming and playful songs, but didn't reveal the entirety of Emerson's story. On his brilliant new album, The Golden Crystal Kingdom, Emerson transcends the role of a honky-tonk country singer and becomes a chronicler of his history. The album is a bold continuation of the story he tells on Vincent Neil Emerson, with songs like the title track exploring the feelings he was left with after his days spent playing in Texas honky-tonks and dancehalls, and the track "The Time of The Rambler," inspired by the early days of living in his car and busking on the streets. He was born and partly raised in East Texas, around his Choctaw-Apache family, and spent most of his life moving around the state. Raised by a single mother, he lost his father to suicide when he was nine. Emerson dealt with those feelings of abandonment and loss on his self-titled album, with the track "Learning to Drown" in particular.

Nicky Diamonds is an Afro-Indigenous Country-Roots/Blues Musician from San Antone, TX currently stationed in Nashville, TN. Pulling inspiration from old hymn books and family history, he's recounting the stories of his ancestors through his unique songwriting style. By keeping the roots of country and blues alive he puts a captivating twist to the tales and tunes of our people. Nicky spends most of his time touring the country with his 95 year old Dobro and occasionally with his band 'The Deepcuts'. His new delta blues album, recorded at Willie Nelson's studio in Spicewood, Texas, was released in Spring 2025. If you're lucky enough you'll catch Nicky at a Honky Tonk or Juke Joint close to home. A mechanic lies among the spare parts on the floor of his garage and wonders if he can afford to keep his girlfriend. A troubled man sees hallucinations of a black dog and a wandering boy and hums “Weird Al” songs in his head. These are some of the strange and richly drawn characters who inhabit James McMurtry’s eleventh album, The Black Dog & the Wandering Boy. A supremely insightful and inventive storyteller, he teases vivid worlds out of small details, setting them to arrangements that have the elements of Americana—rolling guitars, barroom harmonies, traces of banjo and harmonica—but sound too sly and smart for such a general category. Funny and sad often in the same breath, the album adds a new chapter to a long career that has enjoyed a resurgence as young songwriters like Sarah Jarosz and Jason Isbell cite him as a formative influence. As varied as they are, these new story-songs find inspiration in scraps from his family’s past: a stray sketch, an old poem by a family friend, the hallucinations experienced by his father, the writer Larry McMurtry. “It’s something I do all the time,” he says, “but usually I draw from my own scraps.” As any good writer will do, McMurtry collects little ideas and hangs on to them for years, sometimes even decades.

Mose Wilson is a dynamic artist whose music weaves together the rich traditions of roots, country, and Americana with vibrant threads of soul, funk, rock & roll, and bluegrass. Hailing from a lineage that marks him as the first traditional musician in his family, Mose began his musical journey at the tender age of six, strumming his first guitar and leading hymns in church. This early exposure to music ignited a passion for songwriting, deeply influenced by legendary artists such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
