Interesting thing in Ireland is there are strong county identities and I think it is mainly thanks to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) - set up to counter British influence & counties are an English model transferred to Ireland

Government should consider lifting ban on nuclear power, says economist John Fingleton Irishman who chairs UK nuclear industry body says new nuclear generator technology presents opportunity to tackle climate challenge

1/ Modular reactors increasingly touted as a solutuon for Ireland, nuclear waste is still (for me) the biggest issue. Here the proponent says "The much lower cost of waste handling is built into the new technology" ??? But costs may in fact be higher.......

On the first day of March, it was raining. It was raining worse than anything that I have ever seen. I drank 10 pints of beer, I cursed all the people round here and I wished all this rain would stop falling down on me. The Boys from the County Hell, The Pogues

When a word like ‘ginger’ is hissed at you with malice your whole life, it takes on its own meaning Very close to birth, a woman asked me with a devilish smile what I would do if the child had red hair

I don't remember ginger being used for us redsers when I was a kid, has the word been imported from our nearest neighbours?

Don’t think self sufficiency is what people are looking for- during winter you can charge batteries on night rate mains supply and use it at peak rate times or as back up power during a storm. Many people have solar+batteries & oil or solid fuel heating- and need electricity for the circulation pump
