OTD in 2022 "Examples of large-scale disinformation campaign by the Western media, hyping the claim that Russia is planning to invade Ukraine" were debunked by my parody in Sweden.

And then we never invaded & all you imperialists were proved wrong. So you can believe us now about negotiating.

Sounds like a very interesting study on corruption prevention, with data from Ukraine.

Maintaining Ukraine’s resilience Experts discuss what support Ukraine needs to maintain its society and institutions in the face of Russia’s continuing war of aggression.

Very excited to see that the @chathamhouse.bsky.social Ukraine forum is visiting Scotland next week!

Great line up of speakers too.

Sharing on the off-chance that the people who do "Workspace Futures" at Glasgow might read and take note.
Very true thread.

Let that sink in: in the occupied territories, ru has destroyed β€œ750 libraries, 120 museums, 38 theaters, cinemas, and philharmonics, as well as more than 1,179 cultural heritage objects. Additionally, Russian forces have destroyed over 200 million Ukrainian books.”

This article's got it all: memes, lexical clusters, Western decadence.

But in all seriousness, a very interesting reflection on a new (and very old) Russian information war strategy.

Music so poignant it hurts.
There is surely no other journalist quite like Steve Rosenberg.

This new report by @maudinet.bsky.social tells a fascinating and well-sourced story about #Russia strategic use of narratives of #neo-colonialism in the wake of the #Ukraine invasion. irsem.fr/media/report...

Applying to the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme The new Ukraine Permission Extension scheme will open on 4 February 2025.

The UK government has just announced details of how Ukrainians on the "Homes for Ukraine" scheme can extend their initial 3 year visas by a further 18 months (the "Ukraine Permission Extension" scheme).
Big unanswered question is what happens after those 18 months though.

We discussed positionality, impartiality, media regulation, free speech, emotional challenges, hierarchies of knowledge production in academia, Ukraine, Gaza and more.
It's demanding to teach a topic where the personal and the professional feel so inseparable. Also a privilege. An interesting day.

Today I taught a lecture and seminars about "Journalism and Knowledge Production in War and Peacebuilding".
My main reflection: 50 minutes is not long enough for a lecture or seminar on this topic. There's enough to fill a whole new course...
