I see the trailer for DC's Surfboard Dracula Corps show leaked.
(Honestly ask me again next week and the list may be different.)
Top 10 DC faves, off the cuff:
Batman from Batman TAS/Batman Adventures
Damian Wayne as written by Grant Morrison and only as written by Grant Morrison
Superboy (Kon-El)
Barbara Gordon
Tim Drake
Superman
Kyle Rayner
Green Arrow
Animal Man
Captain Marvel
Also, remaster X-Men Legends and X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, you cowards.
X-Men, Game Master's Legacy, Clone Wars, Mojo World, Mutant Wars, Reign of Apocalypse, maybe with Wolverine's Rage and Adamantium Rage thrown in. That's the collection I want.
This is neat. I really wish it were X-Men-focused so we could get some of those lost handheld games back, alongside the Genesis games, like with the TMNT collection, but I know the license bounced around quite a bit, so that's unlikely. Ah, well.
Even better, check out the deluxe version. Some of those Disc 2 reimagined tracks are also great. jennyowenyoungs.bandcamp.com/album/avalan...
An underrated album you should all listen to right now: jennyowenyoungs.bandcamp.com/album/avalan...
Eraserhead.
Brilliant outsider art.
Never again.
TIL that Cougar Town was a real show.
I always thought it was just a ridiculous TV show title that the Community writers came up with for Abed to be obsessed with.
I'm not really a sports person, so I'm a bit outside my lane here, but good for her; she seems to be having a good time.
I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen a backlash from Very Serious Concerned People to her jumping around and swearing into the camera, being undignified behavior for a representative of the USA at the Olympics, blah blah blah.
Or maybe that backlash does exist, and I'm lucky enough not to see it.
I think part of why everyone finds Liu so captivating is that we've all been taught to see peak athletes as Sports Martyrs, but she seems entirely unbothered and authentically joyful, and that feels like a huge breath of fresh air.
I should probably get another cup of coffee.
Reading the comments on a YouTube trailer and getting mad at online strangers for liking something I also like, but for the wrong reasons.
Sad to hear about Tim Very.
Manchester Orchestra was a band that had completely passed me by until I heard this song off of "The Million Masks of God." I immediately checked out the full album and quickly purchased the vinyl. It's incredible.
RIP
The good news is that you can always listen to The Blood Brothers' 2003 post-hardcore masterpiece "...Burn Piano Island, Burn." They can't stop you.
Thrice Audiotree set.
Romeo Is a Dead Man
NJPW New Beginning in Osaka
New comic books
A good day.
The Mummy is like Pirates of the Caribbean for me, meaning I enjoyed the first film tremendously for the playfulness and derring-do, but would be happy never to think about the overblown sequels again.
However, I can't help but be cautiously excited about this.
I get metro Nashville news primarily from WPLN's Nashvillager, either in newsletter (wpln.org/nashvillager/) or podcast (wpln.org/programs/nas...) form, and I recommend you do the same.
Unfortunately, this paper is still the best available option for local city news.
The top-trending story is at least legit coverage of an important ongoing local story. Still, I'm sorry, I have no interest in Friday night football updates, and most of the rest of your newsletter is national and "trending" news I can get from literally anywhere.
What is your purpose?
The daily briefing newsletter from my local major newspaper is split between featured stories at the top and "trending stories" at the bottom.
The top stories have always, frustratingly, been almost 100% local sports, but I at least used ot find actual local news in the "trending" section.
Now...
I own 40 Oz. to Fresno on vinyl and can confirm that the entire tracklist fits on Side A.
Side B is purely decorative.
Joyce Manor putting out yet another full-length album that's shorter than most EPs is god-tier punk shit.
I got sent a review copy of the new Dragonlance Legends hardcover and the cover treatment feels evocative of an old Zelda cartridge, which I love.
Side note: let me know if you or anyone you know would like to pay me to write about Dragonlance!
Kumail just looking for any opportunity to show Kingo bod.
Saved this to read for later, but this weekend may finally be the weekend I revisit this underappreciated classic of cinema.
Today is a good day to Bomb the Music Industry!
