I think the fastest way you can progress as an artist is to do a little bit of everything. You learn different fundamentals and skills from every medium and style. That carries over to the general craft, so trying multiple methods and styles and creating more uninhibited drafts is a great goal.

Need to make progress today on an art project I'm excited about but I was feeling too frustrated & anxious to be creative. A walk at the dog park by the lake was the best medicine thanks to the super sweet senior lab that came up & just leaned on me to let me pet her like she knew & wanted to help😌

Nice! Fun examples like this are helping me get through the hard parts of re-learning dev basics and getting up to speed on all the cool new features in CSS. When I get discouraged, I just go browse the blogs / codpens of all you elite CSS wizards to remind myself what's possible.

The crazy amount of progress all the base languages have made, the insane amount of tools, frameworks, pre-processors, post-processors, bundlers, templating languages, accessibility standards, cross-browser / mobile compatibility, security issues, and privacy legalities are a touch overwhelming.

I'm just old enough that the first web dev tools that I used after learning basic html/css/js were FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Fireworks & Flash. Spent a decade messing with WordPress, and now I'm trying to relearn web development the modern way. And just 🤯.

Someday, I will learn how to learn new things without ending up with 400 browser tabs open as my brain leaps around like a chaotic squirrel, immediately needing to know what every new term means or what every tool I come across does. Someone should really disable my right-click open new tab ability.

I actually did find it distracting, having any bright color on the screen in the app where I'm trying to design drove me crazy! I was one of the ones who complained for sure 😁 I do wish we could disable it fully though, the more UI customization the better.
