Today, author @tomhardwicke.bsky.social argues "that without safeguards, Synchronous Robustness Reports could inadvertently create more confusion than clarity about robustness.
The reviewer, among other things, suggests distinguishing between different types of reports.

I just created a series of seven deep-dive videos about AI, which I've posted to youtube and now here. π
Targeted to laypeople, they explore how LLMs work, what they can do, and what impacts they have on learning, well-being, disinformation, the workplace, the economy, and the environment.
New post! "Valuing the Process vs. the Product in Research," in which I try to describe some of the tensions around using GenAI/LLMs in scientific research, and why it can be so difficult to have productive conversations on the topic. getsyeducated.substack.com/p/valuing-th...

Just outβa piece I wrote a piece for the APS Observer (@psychscience.bsky.social) in which I share recommendations and resources for running a research lab at a small, liberal arts college. I hope it helps others in the same boat! www.psychologicalscience.org/publications...
I wrote a blog for the Meta-Research Center expressing my infinite frustration about not getting data. What else is new, you might think? Well, I added an extra layer of annoyance directed at the journals who do NOTHING to enforce promised data sharing.

What should psychology journals do about this? Whatβs a reasonable policy/standard to apply to research using online data collection methods?
Only anecdotal at the mo. After mandating code sharing & repro checks at psych science, we see a lot of variation in code quality, probably better on average than I expected, but there will be selection effects & we donβt have a good comparison group, because usually hardly anyone shares code at all
We're excited to share the application for the next Research Transparency and Reproducibility Training (RT2)! Join us May 19 - 21, 2026 in Berkeley for hands-on training in open science tools and methods.

Preparing this talk gave me an opportunity to reflect on what lessons I've learned from psychology's replication crisis and credibility revolution, and what advice I would have for other fields. We've come a long way!

Congratulations to @simine.com for winning the Einstein Foundation Individual Award! π
A well-deserved recognition for her seminal efforts to improve scientific rigor, which includes instituting detailed checks for errors and computational reproducibility at Psychological Science.
Science is a collective effort, but @simine.com is a singular force. She is an exemplary model for all of us to follow in her commitment and action to improving science, on every dimension.
She is so deserving of the award. The only uncertainty is whether the award deserves her!
This is such wonderful news. Simine has done so much for advocating for robust, fair, transparent practices throughout psychology and beyond π
