π§΅Ko-fi subscribers have SIX articles to enjoy today! I thought you might enjoy sitting down for some weekend reading :)
First up is this piece on a lovely untranslated DS Shiren-like, Dramatic Dungeon: Sakura Wars! In spite of the genre change it's a wonderful sequel:

Greatly appreciate those words.

That number is burned into my consciousness. I inadvertently learned that you could see private conversations in public chat rooms when using Telnet instead of a browser on GeoCities. I can tell you the difference in audible dial-up handshakes between 1200, 2400, 14.4 kbps modems. I needed a edu email address to join Facebook after my university was admitted. Holy shit
And let's not forget the mailing list - I only push stuff there once an episode goes public, and is a nice way to be reminded away from the whims of social media algo BS.

Because of course fucking C L A U D E brain is going to manifest itself.
OF FUCKING COURSE.
Friends don't let friends use C L A U D E, as your brain will rot.

The spiders were such a non-issue I didn't even include them in my review. Wild. This game is beautiful enough that they didn't even matter.
The launch sale for the Steam version of "Blaze of Storm" will end soon. Don't miss it! And please leave a review!

An Analogue Pocket running Tetris for the original Game Boy. Itβs displaying the Game Over screen, showing I made it to Level 10, with 101 Lines and a final score of 55327.
I think it might be the first time I ever cracked 100 Lines in GB Tetris, the Best Tetris.

My latest for @theavclubgames.bsky.social is on the 40th anniversary of original The Legend of Zelda, and its role as a streamliner of the complicated, demanding, and burgeoning action RPG. This classic did not come out of nowhere, but was to action RPGs what Dragon Quest was for turn-based ones.

Second (IIRC) - originally grabbed DVDs back in 2009 or so, and first heard about it back when The Simpsons did their parody of it.
But I kind feel that time was enough to forget enough details, and I certainly have a good bit to reflect on again, especially with how things are today :)
Anyway. Watch the vid. Then go watch The Prisoner if you've not already (I was lucky this came up after I just finished a watching).
Things to think about always make for interesting art.
Like, I've certainly done the thing of pushing myself to the point of exhausting all my energy on doing a thing.
Whether it's a game project, a vid, or even (sadly) day jerb stuffs.
I keep fighting between doing the thing, and trying to do it sustainably, and I won't lie, it's pretty hard.
Sat down and finished off this rather in-depth piece on The Prisoner this evening, and what hit me was not the stuff on the series itself.
Rather it's the reflection on the cost of being creative.

After the success of Beach-Head, Bruce Carver was joined at Access Software by younger brother Roger, fresh from working on flight sims. So soon they they did the logical thing and made a golf game. It went quite well! New post on Leader Board:

As a kid, I was always salty that Konami's excellent Asterix arcade game never made it home in some form. If I'd had a Sega Master System, I could have been playing this game, though, which is great in its own right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtni...
I don't really wax nostalgically about stuff much, but there is something I do miss about the 2000s and 2010s.
And in my own way I guess I have been grieving that over the last couple of years in particular.
Whilst slowing building up a deep rage with a side of bitterness to go with it.
It's very hard to not feel like that version of my career has all but evapourated in the last few years thanks to the cunts who want to shove the slop machine into all facets of society.
But also 'cause I just want to build software that's useful (or fun) and not just to live a moment to sell shit.
I feel this. A lot.
Finished my degree in CompSci in 2002. Right into the dotcom crash (yay).
Took almost a year to land my first role - which was QA at a firm, where it'd be another year before being allowed to do programming duties.
