It was surreal sharing my research on funding #violenceintervention through #Medicaid with policymakers the day after an R-congressman proposed a bill that would outlaw this very practice. What now? We take stock, we persist, we adapt. That has never changed!

Similar to our report from almost 7 years ago. Important to say it's not just Trump & other performative "conservatives" who perpetuate biased images of "urban" gun violence. Liberals do it too when they compile numbers from just those cities big enough to report data.

Vital City | On Overdose Prevention Centers, Listen to Community Complaints Policymakers would be wise to listen carefully to neighborhood residents who criticize the facilities.

Good article in @vitalcitynyc.bsky.social by @katy-pugliese.bsky.social on local impacts of overdose prevention centers in NYC. She cites my work w/ @jjhall.bsky.social that found substantial property crime increases around one of the sites. Link in 2/2

Crime Policy Needs More Cost-Benefit Analysis, Including Harms to Victims | NORC at the University of Chicago NORC's Live Crime Tracker now includes harm estimates to help facilitate sophisticated trends analysis and truly evidence-based policymaking.

When we talk about crime trends, it is easy to get lost in the numbers and forget the people involved. One way to humanize trend data is to translate it into measures of the harm experienced by crime victims. Here is a little on how that works. www.norc.org/research/lib...

A little late, but I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to spend time with this amazing group of students and colleagues at #ASC a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully we’ll have the entire team there (and here) next year! @katy-pugliese.bsky.social

Many thanks to the many local stakeholders of Bridgeton, NJ who offered thoughtful insights and recommendations on this work and the future of tiny homes for the reentry population in the US.

First post! So excited that our evaluation of the *first* tiny home housing shelter for the reentry population is OUT! We found that autonomous tiny homes can offer unique benefits for NJ parolees where traditional housing shelters consistantly fall short.
