Time goes by and we're ready to show off all the great talks that we've had at #wrocloverb this year 🌟

Let's begin with @joel.drapper.me presentation on typing in Ruby and Literal - set of tools to help you write more expressive, confident Ruby. Enjoy!

Rails was the AI of 2000s.

βœ…Creating apps became much faster.
βœ…Testing business ideas became cheaper.
βœ…Business loved it.
βœ…VCs loved it.
βœ…Divided devs into enthusiasts and sceptics.

But when apps grew?
That’s when things got tricky.

We specialize in human legacy Rails apps for years now.

The quality of AI generated rails code doesn’t seem much worse than human code to me.

some human β€žcode tricks” might be even still more difficult to descrypt

the volume/scale is bigger with AI, though

One of the best parts of conferences is finally meeting people you’ve only known through GitHub & X.

Got to meet @andrzejkrzywda.bsky.social

DDD is AI-friendly

clear modules and boundaries makes it easier to reason about for both humans and AI (smaller context!)

Is your Rails application special? Hi, we're Arkency and it's our blog with meaty content.

New blog post on the Arkency blog!

Piotr has just published his first post, sharing our journey to stabilize a nearly 10-year-old Rails application for a client. The app was using a microservices patternβ€”but not in the most effective way.

A friendly reminder that as Arkency we help with modernizing existing (legacy) Rails apps.

It doesn't matter if the Rails app was originally created by human devs or AI.

As such, we're big fans of AI, more business for us 😎

Shoutout to @szymonfiedler.bsky.social!

Szymon will present a practical methodology for verifying business logic equivalence during rewrites, focusing on isolating side effects and leveraging existing system behavior as a specification.

A cherry on top: real-world examples guaranteed 🀩

There is a 6 minutes podcast that i share with some junior developers once per few months. I figured out i should share it there too: open.spotify.com/episode/5mX2...

Main wisdom of that one: "don't attach emotionally with your code".

At first, I thought that Part 2 is not necessarily graph-friendly. But actually it is, with some trick like this:

It helped again to store neighbours with their relative direction from the node.
