Itβs in there as an option alongside smart readiness. One seems more appropriate in terms of warm, safe homes not suffering fuel poverty.
Measurement tends to come in at a significantly higher cost. Weβd recommend it if investing in your house, work w various providers, and offer with @ecofurb, and some is now an option with RdSAP10. Perhaps the answer in MEES is to accept more measurement for edge cases? 2/2
The political question for EPCs is how much they cost. We saw the strong reaction against HIPs. @linnr.bsky.social may know the original requirement. Our view is different levels of data (and expense) are appropriate at different points. 1/2
Really good article here highlighting the mess the government has created by trying to ensure all rented homes are at EPC C at the same time as reforming the methodology - meaning many properties will end up with a different rating under the new system.
We did reflect on this but determined the analysis remains valid in raising the issues around the transition. The incoming standard is likely to be much lower, as the aim is to improve the coldest, hardest to heat homes.
