i know how the community made the game look like and how it actually influenced the sequels, but i think from software still is doing a good job with other franchises like Bloodborne,sekiro and elden ring who clearly take a lot from the souls games
you can have dificulty setting that are not set by a menu
resident evil 4 for example adjust the resources and enemies as you play the game automatically
and dark souls has a bunch of systems to support its dificulty to make the player to always be on the edge
the 5th and 6th gen of video games are basically easier modes being god mode and hard being bullet sponges all around
exactly my point, you put the blame on dark souls but devs always struggled with difficulty, and dark souls is actually one of the few good examples on how to do a difficulty setting to suit most ppl who'd play it
difficultly settings where mostly dogshit way before dark souls got popular
