A.I. voice clone could be used in decades old murder case An artificial intelligence company is seeking to build an AI voice clone of a murder victim to speak to a jury of a decades old murder case.

Can prosecutors use an AI clone of a murdered woman’s voice to bring her words to life for a jury?

To this day, that convenience store clerk has not been identified. It is a key missing piece to the mystery of where is Susan Powell.

Note how Josh did not trust his own family enough to tell them where he went during those 18 hours. He lied about the mileage placed on the rental car (he said 300, actual mileage was 807). But most notably, he described interacting with a convenience store clerk who found him β€œvery memorable.”

A year and a half later, police obtained a wiretap on Josh Powell’s phone. They captured conversations between Josh and his family (father Steven, brother Michael, sister Alina). Seen here are snippets from two of those calls, in which Josh talked about his time in the rental car.

Josh didn’t take his cell phone (police had it). He didn’t use his credit card (aside from a $400 cash withdrawal at an ATM to avoid being traced). It’s possible Josh might’ve been revisiting or relocating the body of his missing wife, Susan Powell, during the 18 hours he was unaccounted for.

On this date 16 years ago, Josh Powell returned from an unexpected outing in a rental car. No one can say where he went.

I hiked, but did t see any bears in the backcountry. These two were both just off the road between Lamar and Mammoth.

The Tanner Trail, headed into the guts of the Grand Canyon. The Colorado River seen here is still miles distant from the hiker in the foreground. The scale of this space is impossible to capture.

Banel’s Flight 293 podcast inspires Congress to take action Feliks Banel's "What Happened to Flight 293" podcast has inspired the creation of bipartisan bills in the U.S. House and Senate.

Shout out to my KSL Podcasts colleague Feliks Banel. His show Unsolved Histories about the mysterious crash of a Northwest Airlines flight in 1963 has directly spurred new federal action on behalf of the victim families. mynorthwest.com/history/flig...

August Landmesser Primary Source Handout | Bill of Rights Institute

The non-partisan Bill of Rights Institute raises the question, β€œwith whom are we more likely to identify β€” the people performing the Nazi salute or the individual refusing to salute?”

(Cont): β€œWhile all those present raise their right arms in the obligatory "German salute," one man (slightly r. of center, circle) refuses and crosses his arms. We have varying, sometimes conflicting, information on the identity of this brave non-conformist. His name was probably August Landmesser.”
