The book taught us the French word for submachine gun, which was pretty cool to 16yo me.

Something close to my first rate-book purchase. (It set me back $111 dollars.) We read the book in French 3, I liked it then and it’s had surprising staying power in the decades since high school. It’s a short novel that reads almost like a screenplay treatment (hence accessible to students).
