At the end of WWII both Germany & Japan were demilitarized by the Allied powers. I'm not sure how but something similar needs to happen to the USA, Israel, & Russia in the coming decade. These three nations are the source of so much violence across the globe.

People can say it’s utopian or dreamy but it’s a fact that you have to believe new things are possible, fundamentally, in order to make them real. You have to make the choice to believe that more than this is possible & not be resigned to this being the way things have to be because it’s not at all.

this is why the whole “oh, suffering creates great art” thing is bullshit

you know what’s conducive to art? a roof over your head and food on the table

you know what isn’t? stressing out over where the fuck the rent money is going to come from

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.

Post-event interviews [like immediately after the event just ended] should be banned from the Olympics, especially when a favorite athlete fails to medal. Give these young humans time to breathe and process. They’re not robots.
