The moon going from full moon to a red moon and starting to go back to a normal full moon, then my camera battery door fell off.
Here's my first edit on the March 3rd Lunar Eclipse. 15 moon shots, 1 foreground. Taken over a 3 hourish period.
Green Line train pulling into Hamline Ave Station.
Foggy view of BIG LOON in the background between Spruce Tree Center and Green Line catenary pole
Foggy view of Spruce Tree Center
A Line bus stopped at the University Ave station
Itβs super foggy out and making for some very moody photo opportunities
A stack of thin pink books that say OBSTETRIX * Naomi Kritzer on the spine.
HEY, I AM DOING ANOTHER FUNDRAISER FOR MINNESOTA RENT FUNDS! AND GIVING AWAY ANOTHER SIGNED ARC (Advance Review Copy) OF OBSTETRIX!!!
YOU COULD GET TO READ IT EARLY (it doesn't come out until June) AND HELP MINNESOTA FAMILIES STAY HOUSED!!!!
the purpose of a rube goldberg machine is what it does eventually
Not calling anyone out but calibrate your messages to reflect two truths:
1. ICE is shifting their enforcement emphasis to the suburbs, exurbs and greater Minnesota.
2. ICE is still very much in the central cities.
Faith In MN, ISAIAH,Jewish Community Action, and others have done excellent progressive organizing and policy work in Minnesota. CAIR MN is an essential voice. Some churches have stepped up to tackle this crisis in crucial ways. Hard to imagine MN progress without these efforts (& Iβm an atheist)
Our little breweries, bookstores, garden centers, and gyms are showing more bravery standing up against ICE than the cowardly response of 3M, Target, Best Buy, etc.

We're proud to co-sign this excellent letter with 50 other local small business owners. @amyklobuchar.com and @smith.senate.gov -- it's time to shut ICE down.
New Strib poll confirms my rough guess: 1/3rd of Minnesotans are shitheads who support ICE, but 2/3rds are with us. 69% in the βburbs! (Abolish ICE, like Defund the Police, is a public-opinion loser. Still, 79% say ICE should abolished OR reformed.) www.startribune.com/poll-trumps-... (gift link) 1/
I need a 20-year retrospective doc of the whole affair with interviews with Ian and Carly and a speech-by-speech recap
its a lovely interview, but the Question I want answered @arif.bsky.social : would you remember this round differently today if the decision had been 2-1 in the other direction? (Also who was on the panel?)
Arif does an impressive job making a high school debate round compelling even if you *donβt* fondly remember every competitor involved
I will reiterate something I've been hammering on here lately: I think coming up with a list of extremely moderate demands that you know the Republicans will reject is a great shutdown tactic.
The only actual problem is that nobody knows what Dems long-term policy goals are with ICE.
I think the demands in the Jeffries-Schumer letter are good - not every change I want to see in US Immigration policy, but something we can dig in and defend for this round of negotiation and mitigate many terrible harms: www.democrats.senate.gov/imo/media/do...
Into it, got a few favorite episodes to call out?
Hmmm not usually a big true crime guy but you have intrigued me
Some of mine: WGBHβs Big Dig series, the Fela Kuti doc from Jad Abumrad, and the most recent season of Articles of Interest (βgearβ) were all fantastic
What are your favorite limited-run nonfiction podcasts? I got a road trip coming up and I wanna learn some things
I think this is a different Taco Libre, a food truck In Hawaii - www.instagram.com/tacolibrefoo...
FWIW the Minnesota Taco(s) Libre closed on 1/23 but I canβt find any other specific statements at a glance
Okay! This has already inspired a bunch of DMs, so I made a page on the website. If you have 50,000+ Skymiles and would be willing to book flights to get someone home, please fill this out.
An empty high school gym, which was the site of my precinct caucus last night
My 2-hour reign over the Highland Park Senior High gym will be remembered as prosperous (we completed our agenda on time) and benevolent (my neighbors were nice to me)
People are still being profiled.
People are still being wrongfully detained.
People still canβt go to work or school out of fear.

Do not look away and do not buy any political spin coming out of DHS.

ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA.
This was only about two time-lapsed minutes of the Alex Pretti memorial ride in Minneapolis today. I'd guess there were at least 5x more people there than this, and probably significantly more than that. Absolutely mind blowing love and support showing up on bikes today.
Sad that itβs trapped in social media jail but the Angry Catfish Instagram story now has a lovely sampling of rides happening around the world today in honor of Alex www.instagram.com/angrycatfish
The Minnesota state flag hanging off a bicycle prominent in the foreground. A good many cyclists are enjoying coffee snacks and fellowship at the conclusion of the Minneapolis memorial ride for Alex Pretti
Our cold toes wonβt bring back Alex and RenΓ©e but all of standing together means they will never win. ICE Out Now!
HAPPENING NOW: Aerial view of a LARGE group of cyclists who have gathered in Minneapolis for an Alex Pretti memorial bike ride
πMinneapolis, Minnesota
Amazing turnout for our streets
Thousands(?) of cyclists gathering at Washburn Fair Oaks Park
Thousands(?) of cyclists along Nicollet Avenue, approaching the Alex Pretti Memorial

A MN state flag flies over a crowd of cyclists
This is Minneapolis.
So damn proud of this place. Easily the largest group bike ride I've ever seen of people showing up for the Pretti-Good Memorial Ride. Huge thanks to all those who did logistical work, marshalled, and showed up for justice.
