And somehow, the debate on whether or not hands are canon still lasts in the fandom to this day. When in reality, there really is no "hard canon" that encompasses all of Bionicle. One medium portrays things one way, another does so in a different way, and not all details line up.
I remember Greg F talking about this on the Lego forums to an extent regarding Gali's hooks. Said something like, in the books it's easier to explain what she's doing as if she has hands so she has hands, in the comics it's easier for her to manipulate things with her hooks so she has hook hands.
