Thats also not to say that HDG doesnt support a huge range of sweet fluff alien romance stories. but both coexist, and many of the settings current darlings like Hypogeal or Independent Establishment weave the two together and really let inner conflicts about a terrifying monster who loves you shine

you might want to check out something like Independent Establishment, Sweet Poppy, Independence is Easy, or Mainspring! Affini are written as antagonistic forces & villians all the time, they just lean more "loving yandere with absolute systemic power" which supports a more cosmic horror/bliss vibe
