In the our dystopian timeline we aren’t enslaved by sentient AI, but held hostage to hallucinating AI robots adding glue to pizza, driving us to the wrong destinations, making legal precedent into fan fiction, and teaching children that Mars was discovered by Elon Musk in 2022.

For years now, customer service phone lines have long waits due to “unusually high call volume,” no matter the time of day. Now instead of hiring more call center staff (even when outsourced to developing nations) they use AI assistants to field calls. Similar playbook.

Starting to feel “there are no good candidates, I’m not voting” = “I’m apolitical” in different clothing. Sure everyone’s situation is different, but my experience is they’re often looking for reasons to disengage/avoid hard work or use the same argument evangelicals use for single-issue voting.

This is getting hate but strikes me more reasonable & sustainable than usual. It essentially follows Apollo, but with the Apollo 9 & 10 missions swapped. I’m not sure if moon bases are a great goal or not, but if we are going, having regular launches to test skills and prove technology feels right.
