Welcome to the stupid shit future, where technology promises to do great things and instead provides false, easily disprovable information.
This game doesn't start for hours. The Google news screen has become increasingly useless.

Sometimes, I get the urge to just randomly message the local breakfast spot.
"Two words: breakfast tacos."
Why must we be plagued with terrible "breakfast wraps"? Sigh.
Screenshot of a very 1990s web page for the current wfmu radio show - text in tables listing out the current playlist, a chat room, and a central piece of art.
absolutely love this about listening to @wfmu.bsky.social - beyond the weirdos and whatever awesome shit they play, there's the 90s looking website that's actually quite useful and fun.
the only things automatically updating are the chat and the playlist, and neither is by algorithm.
New concrete pylons with chains between them at entrances to farnam drive through East Rock Park. No room for bikes, wheelchairs, walkers or anyone. Womp womp.
i really loved playing 'the last of us' and i just realized something abou that: i don't necessarily want an open world in my off time.
i loved the story line, the upending of expectations, and that i didn't have much, if any, choice in where things were going.
it kept the pace - and my interest.
Are my speakers busted or is it just neutral milk hotel?
I use an automatic feeder for dinner and leave it on the same time.
I'm now "that cop looks like a child" old.
My podcasts are all news and current events or AI and tech. I'd love some more deep journalism or storytelling. Got any suggestions out of the ordinary?

A white SUV with fully tinted windows and flashers inside just went speeding up Waite St. in Hamden.

This is just the continued assimilation of GitHub into the Microsoft borg that's been going on for a while now.
Well, I definitely saw this coming.

well, I'm happy to have made it to a point in life where I have a 401k and it's a thing I pay any attention to, but....all the money I've put in this year at 20% of my salary is all gone currently. in three days. so that's fun
the ampitheater next to the river with lots of stairs and no good way to get down to the river with a bike or wheelchair.
The ramp down to the riverwalk has a locked chain across it.
Tried to get to the riverwalk in Hartford yesterday only to find that the only ramp down to the trail was chained off for no reason, while all the stairs were open.
Why???
There's literally no other way to access the trail from downtown that I could find, with I95 cutting it off completely.
None of this is normal
"According to Pantages, by the end of the first day of the Wikipedia article's life, it had been edited more than 360 times, by 70 different editors referring to 28 separate sources from news outlets around the web."
I wrote a blog post about wikipedia as a breaking news source at SXSW 2010. I'm curious about its process and role these days...how it's doing amidst <waves hands> all this. archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes....
Iβm hoping that when people watch this film that they get energized to make sure that we donβt lose these hard one rights and accessibility to lives that everyone else takes for granted. I co-directed Crip Camp with @nicolenewnham.bsky.social
I don't even know how to use social media anymore. Used to feel so natural to share random thoughts.
I came to talk about my phone woes...but we're watching all the parts of the government that protect people be dismantled.

Woke up to my Pixel phone in a boot loop.

page from "ministry for the future" reading in part "You call them terrorist, but it's the people you work for who are the terrorists. How can you not see that?"
Reading "Ministry for the future" and it sure does ring true.
A group of 17 states have sued the United States government. The states are asking the court to get rid of Section 504 and its new rules that protect people with disabilities from discrimination in health care and human services.

I'm scraping doge.gov - they're all about "transparency" so it was a little annoying that Cloudflare was blocking my scraper when it ran unassisted on GitHub Actions
Here's my git scraping repo: github.com/simonw/scrap...
