I don’t expect this move is gonna be permanent though no matter how horribly dogshit and surveillance stateful Discord becomes. There’s just too much built on there and its potential successors aren’t ready. As much as I wish the alternatives would step up I feel like we’re not there yet

I do find it “funny” tho. Discord’s had this massive monopoly over whatever the hell its kind of product is for so long that its competitors are just not equipped to handle just a tiny fraction of the traffic discord has. It’s not like the entire user base is trying to move immediately or anything.

I’m admittedly a very simple fox and the very fact that the app is named the way it is is enough to make me wanna check it out regardless of how simple or complicated registering will be.

So with the new discord ID thing going on I’ve been looking for alternatives to move to and it seems that one of the most promising ones I know of (Stoat, previously Revolt) is having so many more people trying to register than they ever expected that verification emails are taking hours to send.
