There's a photo session of Sylvia Plath on her first day at Mademoiselle, and I've never liked those pics because she'd just been reamed out by the editor and was crying when they called her in. But I have to say, the pics are interesting when colorized. You can tell a pro took them. Very detailed.

Just saw the Elvis Music doc by Bazz Luhrman. It was good, but buyer beware: without researching too much, I'd guess that 2/3 or more of the onstage (and even rehearsal) music was either sweetened or totally replaced. If you wanna hear him sing, though, you're in luck!
I got a great advice from my piano teacher Scott Hiltzik (who was also an artist with actual radio play) but one thing that always stuck with me: "If you can't hear it (in the mix), take it out!" We always fight to keep what we record, so it's tough to admit something's just cluttering the track.

Today I recorded my tiny Sabian cymbal and my two really shitty crash cymbals that I've been saving for an Asian-sounding track! Really fun!
It was fun! Just four of us but it was a good time. A little sad that I can't pull in the big numbers any more, but then again I'm not promoting myself like I once did and that's pretty much my choice. You were missed, and nice things were said about you!
I finally decided to record samples of my meditation drum because recording overdubs is just too difficult... I can't hear the tones clearly! But now I'm mastering the files and matching to my keyboard. There's actual notes in there! A bit sharp or flat, but they're matching the keys!
Reviewing this album. Totally getting flashbacks from cassette 4-track days. This is my favorite LoFi sound: a folky, pretty decent song with a vocal like Norm McDonald (yes, him!) and a lead solo that approaches Shaggs glory! Stumbling toward ecstasy! open.spotify.com/track/2QOzm4...
