That is a very good point - some of the Balkans countries aren't schengen which pauses the 90 day period if I head that way.

The 90 days is the Schengen 90/180 rule.
From Kirkenes travel through Finland, on to Baltic States & travel down from there via Poland. Maybe go through Czechia towards Central Europe, or perhaps through Slovakia and the Balkans. All in 90 days! Decisions π© 2/2
I'm planning a Big Rail Trip around Europe but struggling to find inspiration. Has anyone done a similar trip & is happy to share advice?
I've ambitious plans, I will share them as a thread. I want to start with travelling up to Aberdeen, fly to Bergen, travel up the Norwegian coast via boat 1/2
My day...my life... surviving my neighbours.
Ending where I started, with a Tusker. I must admit that I am slowly going insane. 4.5 hours to check in & rapidly running out of place to crash. Hopefully this cafe will let me stay for a few hours
Iβve just realised that Iβve dusted off the rucksack for my current trip, how could I forget - just been dragging it around the airport. I hate the bloody thing!!π
Well thatβs makes me a very unseasoned traveller. After years of travelling with a backpack Iβve switched to a full sized roller suitcase. My back loves me for it π
What!?! They actually list snow globes? - Iβm not gonna read the article, I travel the way it suits me best. Itβs my ritual to buy a snow globe during my annual winter/Christmas trip.
Tanzanian trip sadly finished. Thereβs been highs (safari in the Serengeti & snorkelling in Zanzibar) and lows (constantly harassed in Zanzibar). Bizarrely (or not) I see the jungle WiFi has a high - being away from social media for 2 weeks has been bliss. Will post the highlights when I get home.
Tusker beer o'clock!
I'm on a group tour around Kenya & Tanzania, which means sharing a room. It's been a very long time since I've done this, I don't know what to do with myself. I'm doing what I know how to do best, take myself off to the hotel bar to edit photos & drink beer.
I work in the culture sector in London. Itβs got very expensive because the Tory government cut arts funding so most of the cultural places are having to up their admission prices to survive. I canβt afford to see a performance in the venue I work for π₯Ί
Do the Evensong only, youβll get free entry into the Abbey. You wonβt get to see it all but the experience alone will be fantastic.
Received an apologetic email from Intrepid about my upcoming trip to Tanzania.
βOh no! Itβs been cancelled! What am I going to do!?!β π
No, sadly theyβve had to upgrade the accommodation & transport. Theyβre sorry for the inconvenience. Iβm feeling very aggrieved by all this π
It depends. My last trip I took my time to explore just a couple of places. But my big trip to Norway, it was as many places as possible - thinking about it, I think why I slowed down on the recent trip.
Each Friday, my tastebuds go on a lunchtime adventure. It started with Koshari Street, but I wondered - what other Egyptian gems are hidden in London? That sparked a whole new journey & I'm excited to share the first post in my Cultures in London series.

I totally get you! I had to move to the other side of the world to get on with my dad - until he makes hurtful comments, but they're easier to ignore from afar. My mother and I never patched things up - she made far worse unforgivable comments than my dad ever has.
She lied to relatives and called you homeless!?! That's bad, I'm sorry she felt the need to do that. I hope your relationship with her wasn't too affected and you are able to move on.
I'm off to Kenya and Tanzania.
And thanks - I'm really excited about going to Tanzania. It's been on my bucket list for a long time.
That's lovely to hear. I don't know what has got into my dad. He was always excited about my travels - says I got my wanderlust from my grandad. My grandad spent time in Africa so I thought he would be excited about this trip, but strangely no.
No, nothing. Just a lecture about better managing finances. He went quiet when I said I could afford it and not touch my savings - I have a travel pot. It was really bizarre
Yay, but mainly nay. I wouldn't say no if someone offered me Irn Bru and I don't hate the taste. But I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it.
I think I need to hand in my honorary Scottish/Glaswegian citizenship. π
Does anyone else's family disapprove of all the travelling they do?
I told my father about my trip to Tanzania. He usually gets excited about my travels but this time he did nothing but criticise; said I was wasting my money on all this travel. So I wondering, anyone else?
Next holiday booked: Tanzania Aug/Sept via Intrepid πΉπΏ. A bit last minute due to a family bereavement, feels a little wrong to be enjoying myself but I need to do something for me.
Trips in the planning:
π§πͺAntwerp (December)
π¦πΊπ³πΏ Australia (Western Australia) & New Zealand (Feb '26) to see family
Today has proven that the best days arenβt necessarily planned. I decided to spend my day on DjurgΓ₯rden, just discovering βstuffβ & ABBA. Find myself in the National Park feeling a bit peckish. Follow the signs to Rosendals TrΓ€dgΓ₯rd & soon happen upon this amazing cafΓ¨ based in a greenhouse! βοΈπΊοΈ
Where am I today? Iβm in Stockholm! A later start than intended - I woke up loaded with a cold. Iβm just chilling with a cinnamon bun & good coffee, hope to head to DjurgΓ₯rden for a peaceful day. Much joy & sneezing βοΈπΊοΈ #travelsky

Tales from my couch! Getting very grumpy about being forced to rest with my broken foot but the positive is I'm getting heaps of time to catch up with my blog posts. Here's how I planned my epic Italy by Train trip (and it was epic!)
