Chief Nerd CHIEF NERD @TheChiefNerd X.com SAM ALTMAN: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter." 1:22 3:36 AM • 3/12/26 • 1.7M Views
Upside down, by the ankles, and then treat him like a piñata.
A photo of the clear large cassette case with a matte black inlay and Aliens logo in the centre, very minimalistic and effective, resting on the map that came with it and has monochrome photo stills in the border.
A photo of the back of the case explaining the premise and with a gameplay screenie in the centre showing xenomorphs advancing toward the player.
A cool release of an 8-bit microcomputer game: The ZX Spectrum release of Aliens: The Computer Game (1986)
This is different to Aliens game from Activision that was made up of a series of mini-games; instead a tense FPS/gallery shooter hybrid and team management game.
Same, that'll teach me to not look at the not-even-that-small print 😅
Thanks to @turnbasedthursday.bsky.social for putting on the exceptional #TurnBasedThursdayFest on #Steam . Sooooo many good #indiegames in this fest, including our Emperor of the #FadingSuns store.steampowered.com/app/2799350/...
Up in Scotland we are wondering what all the fuss is about.
Official post from the @glasgowcc.bsky.social FB page, regarding the Union St fire. Sad to see, but the priority is to public safety and reopening the city center.
I hope that lessons are learnt, and we can move forward knowing that all will be done to prevent similar situations in the future.
For the dozen or so of my 2.8k followers who are interested in club culture and dance music history and who may have missed this posting y/day evening here's something I wrote in the late 90s and early 00s. Read the rest of the thread if you have time too. "Between thought and expression."
When this ad came out I'd never seen The Prisoner so it just came across as weird

two of them were, apparently. There's a bit in the vid as well where they mention it's time for "hate" in response, presumably, to the "second summer of love" in '89 and I'd forgotten that claim of an "inevitable" cycle to a new punk explosion was an NME talking-point literally into the late 90s
lol at them being NME hacks, that's the most "new punk band in 1991" thing ever
Still hoping my £5 note suggestion may be considered, something to bring our fractured nation together

Oh, nice! Paging @kilg0retr0ut.bsky.social
Super Ranger is a shameless Rolling Thunder knock-off, almost comically so.
Always a bit of a surprise to remember that Xenon had an arcade outing
Had a couple of shots of this and struggle to get the hang of it, to be honest. Am sure it's "learnable", though, unlike e.g. Dark Sceptre
quick reminder that NT's production of The Importance of Being Earnest, starring human ray of sunshine Ncuti Gatwa, will be streaming FOR FREE on YouTube this weekend

there's this weird tendency to see Palestine as a load-bearing part of global systems of power or capital, rather than a marginalized population brutally oppressed by a fairly small state. A mirror image of the "Israel is the defender of the West' stuff.
Watching The Prisoner for podcasting purposes & I can never get over how brilliant the opening credits are. Peak of the brilliance: Patrick McGoohan slamming the door open. The slight angle he enters at. The angry eyebrow raise as he resigns. The fist slamming into the desk making the tea cup jump.
BREAKING - Big Story
A memo from Keir Starmer to all members of the UK Gov Cabinet has been leaked.

Amalgamate is superb, another sunil 7drl banger! Managed a score of 955, which I think is as far as I can go +- random chance. Highly recommended! zunil.itch.io/amalgamate
Why didn't he just make the relevant parts disappear?
Even among 1986's ambitious arcade conversions, Dragon's Lair was baffling. How did anyone look at its laserdisc-powered lushness and think "this would work perfectly on C64"?
It turns out, no one did.
New post on how it happened, and proved a success, anyway:

So it seems the two guys who kept people away from the explosive early stages of the fire and arguably save that guy with the fire extinguisher were just passers by? (There's an interview with one of them here):

Awful news about Glasgow Central, I'm still hoping the station itself escaped serious damage.
But while we're here, can anyone spot the problem with the news photo below, from thetraveler.org/glasgow-cent...?
We've really got to STOP using AI to fake things.
