@mrcepid.bsky.social researchers led by Prof. Albert @koulman.bsky.social used data from the UKβs National Diet & Nutrition Survey to investigate the ethnic differences in thiamine status.
The survey is currently delivered by @natcen.bsky.social & @mrcepid.bsky.social at the @cam.ac.uk
Ethnic differences in thiamine status persist after adjusting for diet; findings from the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey": www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
All dietary assessment tools have limitation and it is therefore important to objectively determine the measurement error of the tool used. Within the National Diet and Nutrition Survey in the UK we do this regularly . See our recent paper with all the details.
Just out: Folate status shows no relationship with vitamin B12 but reiterates the urgency for folate fortification in the UK.
The prevalence of folate deficiency was assessed based on the serum folate concentrations from 47,240 samples from Aug 2023 to Jan 2025.

6/12 Transcriptional, proteomic and lipidomic analysis of our cell line models showed up-regulation of redox-protective pathways, alongside changes in lipids, including low levels of peroxisomal/ER ether-linked lipids, and high levels of ferroptosis-susceptible membrane PUFAs.
Delighted that our work describing a potential novel treatment approach for B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia is published today in @natcomms.nature.comβ¬. π§΅

Would be interesting to know how many injections other groups get out of columns in plasma peptidomics / proteomics experiments?
There are some huge studies out there looking at thousands of samples - how long do columns last? Share your experiences!! #proteomics #peptidomics #teammassspec

The saturated fatty acid palmitate (C16:0) is one of the most common fatty acids in our food. However, changing palmitate intake has little impact on the circulating levels. We still understand little of the real effect of saturated fat consumption.
Great idea, please add me in.
What are the normal concentrations of vitamin D in breast milk? We can only know when we have a suitable method. Here we present the validation of an LC-MS/MS method.
