To be fair, it is not a chemistry paper, right? Or is it?

They are probably a scam company anyway, so everything they say they don’t mean it. The increase of price in Pt is never gonna be lower than Ag…

Why it needs to register to read… but the title resonates well when every newsletter from everywhere is announcing the creation of two new committees … sure professor members are for free but there are always other members whose job are being members

Opinion | Why Your University Has So Many Administrators Great teaching is expensive, but back-office functions should be getting cheaper. Why aren’t they?

Except trying to let people know he exists, he contributed nothing (new) to the discussions.

So well said: None of us is in a position to judge which falsehoods might benefit people. We should stick to the truth as best we understand it, and still do what we can to fight the pollution of our environment by plastic.

I don’t agree with some laureates’ opinions. There will not be “no effects” if his membership is revoked and this is not a case of free speech. Free speech was used as an excuse by extreme right. I think at positions of extreme privilege one easily discounts the feeling of vulnerable.

It is beyond horrible. Genocides by own government. Unfortunately Iranian people are on their own because no foreign government will do anything. The powerful ones are not on your side. The sympathetic ones have no power. Hope the people will triumph.

Does he have no shame, Paul Nurse, to make such a comment. Oh I forgot for a moment, all these so called presidents are into these positions to get power or influence, not to serve any public interest.

If they have implemented retirements at good financial times this problem will not be so prevalent.

75 is a lot older than our retirement age of 65. Mandatory retirement works in Europe. The issue with us as mentioned by others where retirement is not replaced by young hire is a bug in the system in financially difficult time. But retiring does free up grants to others so long term it will help.

Unfortunately this is the wise thing to do. Some national conferences in the US are good and attended by international scholars. Unfortunately no longer a viable option. Bad for everyone involved. Chemchat

How to quit Spotify This Black Friday, here's a guide to finding the best Spotify alternative

Spotify is garbage on every count: Its treatment of artists, its ICE advertising, the CEO's investment in military AI, its leading role in the commodification and AI slopification of music, its terrible audio quality—you name it.

So I quit, and put together a complete guide to getting off Spotify:

One of the most time consuming steps in chemical synthesis might be chemical synthesis itself, in my opinion. I don’t mean virtual synthesis, or vibe synthesis.

We are able to put two different cofactors in one protein scaffold and make them do catalysis together. It is amazing that it actually works. Chemchat chemsky

Thank you. I haven’t thought of it as a Ni enzyme but it does look like one… I was more labelling it as a peptide cofactor

Is this really surprising chemsky? Lots of sayings are survival biased. Sure if it does not kill you it makes you stronger. Problem is 9 of 10 times you are just killed.

Carbon offsets fail to cut global heating due to ‘intractable’ systemic problems, study says Analysis of 25 years of evidence shows most schemes are poor quality and fail to lower emissions

News that shocks no one: Carbon offsets do nothing for climate.

Carbon dioxide removal is not a current climate solution — we need to change the narrative Drastically reduce emissions first, or carbon dioxide removal will be next to useless.

In recognition of us doing fuck all to reduce emissions, let me remind y'all that carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is useless unless we decarbonize drastically.
