On this day in 1827, Beethoven died at 56 from liver cirrhosis from chronic hepatitis B. There is also a theory that he suffered from hereditary haemochromatosis.

Remarkably, lead poisoning from "medical treatments" at the time had also contributed to liver/renal failure.
