How could a simple self-replicating system emerge at the origins of life? RNA polymerase ribozymes can replicate RNA, but existing ones are so large that their self-replication seems impossible. Could they be smaller?
Excited to share our latest work in @science.org on a new small polymerase.

Congratulations Brenda! You are yourself an RNA hero for me and many others.
Open Postdoc position in our lab!

A. baumannii is one of the most notorious multidrug-resistant pathogens, capable of forming drug-tolerant biofilms that make infections exceptionally difficult to treat. But how are these complex microbial fortresses built? Just published in Nat Comms. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41654547/
Stories from #WomenInScience who changed how we visualize #proteins: Ahead of her 85th birthday, Jane Richardson (Duke Univ, @biophysicalsoc.bsky.social president 2012-13) discussed her life from making a telescope to developing ribbon diagrams for 3D protein structure www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Honored to be a finalist for the 2026 Blavanik Awards in the UK in Life Sciences. Iβm grateful to past and present lab members, collaborators, colleagues and mentors, who made it possible. Itβs even better to share this from
Vietnam while celebrating the Tet holidays with family.
Very happy to say that our work on how axonemes are generated is now available on bioRxiv: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... - if youβve ever wondered how the incredibly beautiful, complex structures within motile #cilia are constructed then this is for you!

π¨ Interdisciplinary PhD opportunity for graduates interested in DNA replication, chromatin biology, and cancer research. Please share with potential candidates.
We have an opening for a research support officer. Come and join us! Please share.
We are recruiting a PhD student to tackle a fundamental question in cancer biology: how DNA replication fails at centromeres and drives chromosomal instability (CIN) β a major driver of tumour evolution and therapy resistance.
