With this new position in Barcelona, I am now only missing Hawai'i and (soon) Indonesia on the list of Pokemon locations I have worked in.
So if anyone has any jobs going there.

Considering my book "The Tree of Life" for introductory evolution class? I have a few complimentary copies to evaluate. Please DM me. And please repost.

Review in Science described it as "..a fantastic informal introduction to a course on evolution.. recommended it to my first-year students".

I was never more elated than when my journalist partner told me that the metrics on our piece about how we mathematically model evolution got "above average" traffic.
Our tardigrade articles were obviously more successful, but those risky small successes feel so much better.

Good article, but the framing is wrong. There is not a dearth of interest in taxonomy. There is a scarcity of funding and positions, which is a deliberate choice by funding agencies and institutions. The youth love taxonomy! It's the olds that are failing to meet their passion!

After the conclusion of the second Jurassic World, that is kind of what I wanted for the third. A Shin Godzilla style Bureaucracy Movie with senators rushing from room to room trying to work out how sauropod crop destruction affects agricultural subsidies and insurance premiums.

I just received an email from Avanti West Coast that, as I have not used my Delay and Repay account in 2 years, they will be closing it.
I haven't lived in the UK for 8 years. I have had that account since 2009.
This is not the flex you think it is.

So the description on the website calls it the Little Bean Pokemon, and I wonder if it might be the Javan Eagle because it'll become more coffee-inspired as it grows up. Browt has that kind of raw coffee bean pale green colour, too... so maybe they'll roast it as it evolves?

High-quality genomes help us study evolutionary uniqueness, population history and conservation needs: A new ERGA–BGE reference genome for the Pyrenean “milky worm” sheds light on the evolution & conservation of little-known soil biodiversity. #LIBresearch

I feel like this is the Big Tension of the shift between the two head writers. It turns up a lot in Stormblood (see: Fordola) but then evens out in tone in Shadowbringers, where it becomes a game that doesn't care about politics anymore.
It just has the Ick in the conflict between their priorities..

The few observations that I have made are necessarily
imperfect, but I send them, as they afford a method which
might lead a naturalist to notice habits otherwise difficult
to observe, and so to arrive at conclusions which I in my
ignorance of natural history must leave to others.

We just don't end papers like this any more. Maybe the world would be better if we did?

Finally announced! I co-designed and co-wrote The Ghost in the Shell Roleplaying Game alongside Alessio Cavatore.

It was a real pleasure to write and design for such a beloved world and story. I loved delving deep into the complex characters who occupy this dark world. GitS fans are in for a treat!

I was going to skip it (as I liked 8 but haven't really enjoyed a JJ Abrams thing since the first season of Lost), but I went because it was a friend's birthday party.
Movie and dinner? What could go wrong?
The sourness in the whole group afterwards was palpable for the whole night.
