Tukoni: Forest Keepers is a magical world of kindness and hope Oksana Bula’s gorgeous illustrated world of forest spirits finds new life as a cozy adventure

Tukoni by @dream-operator.bsky.social is a work of astonishing beauty, being created by developers and artists living in Ukraine under constant attack from Russia. I spoke to them about crafting joy under so much horror.

obviously today is a huge embarrassment for Matt Goodwin and for Reform, which is something that we absolutely ought to celebrate, but we must also remember it's a huge embarrassment for Morgan McSweeney and Maurice Glasman and all the Blue Labour weirdos, and that's important to celebrate too :)

The Geometry of Inequality From mapping poverty to charting the 1%.

The graphic comparison at the heart of inequalityβ€”us versus them, rich and poor, haves and have-notsβ€”feels older than money itself. The forms will keep changing. The comparison will not.

I'm old enough to remember when people were saying we were being "alarmist" about Project 2025 in the US. Britain is sleepwalking into an ultra-violent, white supremacist, technofeudalist necrostate, and no one in a position of power appears to have a problem with that fact.

β€˜Is university still worth it?’ is the wrong question The graduate earnings premium isn’t really measuring what most people think

Turns out (says @jburnmurdoch.ft.com) it's not so much an oversupply of graduates in the UK (the same would be true of other similar countries but it's not) as an undersupply of the kind of jobs that a better-performing, more productive economy would supply.

In terms of what cures are being lost:

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

Building the camps The warehouseification of detention and initial thoughts on stopping it.

When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

This is a great read on the increasing #complexity of modern computing #systems from @norootcause.surfingcomplexity.com - nobody understands all the layers anymore, no one gets the whole system

What makes Gellhorn’s Obituary of a Democracy so important and powerful is that she doesn’t write about appeasement as something that happens in diplomatic conference rooms. She writes what it means for people’s lives
