Today & every day, I am thankful for the wonderful people in my life. And I'm SO grateful for our elected officials who care more about the people of this state (like me!), doing the right thing, standing by their values than making things easy for themselves or "not looking bad."
Being told, "I am astounded you've dealt w this for years. I'd last maybe a day w this sort of thing. You're incredibly resilient, & I deeply appreciate your dedication to this work" nearly brought tears to my eyes after years of a N*zi and sympathizers telling me how much of a useless waste I am.
The question "wait, they're doing this publically? And no one is doing, saying anything about it?" also was affirming, because RIGHT?! I'VE BEEN SAYING!
After a particularly heinous incident, I had a brain-smart & reached out to my guys, Reps. Nick & Mike, & shit is being ADDRESSED! 🙌
Even more, just having someone call & be flabbergasted, outraged on my behalf that this was happening meant so much.
We share advocacy spaces, if you can believe it, and are on a legislated council together. I have reached out to legislators about this over the course of years, and nothing has been done. One even told me I needed to "accept diversity" 🙃 (she's a republican who didn't get relected, lolol).
I can't say too much since attys are now involved, but for the past several yrs I've been dealing w public abuse/harassment from a person (white supremacist), w support from his besties & pushback from v few. Transphobic rhetoric, lateral #ableism, spreading lies, gen hatefulness. It's exhausting.
There are many things I love about the collaboration between @stoningtonpride.bsky.social and Bank Square Books. One of them is finding amazing new books after events 😁
