There are also certain things I won’t comment on because I know I’ll eventually have to take a position on them on behalf of a client, and there is some nuance in the law that is a necessary part to explain to eg a journalist but nonetheless works against my clients’ interests

Lots of layers to this — I’ve been asked to comment on a particular lawsuit, and then the defendants see my comment and contact me to ask me to represent them, and the plaintiffs usually think it’s some grand conspiracy
