WE DID IT. π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
This podcast is one of the greatest things I've ever been a part of.
We are committed to bringing you brilliant analysis, witty commentary, and yes, joy.
Even as we critique the bad and ugly in sports. @burnitalldownpod.com
We are an independent feminist sports podcast hosted by five women who have kept complete editorial control over our IP. Itβs hard to get people to fund feminist media. People like that it exists, they just arenβt often interested in paying for it. www.kickstarter.com/projects/bur...
WE CAN DO IT
77 minutes to go and we are $331 from reaching $30,000, which @shireenahmed.bsky.social joked that we might reach on the day we launched. (I don't know if it was actually a joke, but I laughed!) Can we make it?????? OMG. π
Thank you, friend.
Thank you, Brandon.
Thank you! And yes to the return of @burnitalldownpod.com π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
It's time to talk about hockey media in Canada. Actually, it has been time for awhile. My thoughts on comments from Insiders, hockey media approaches, using language correctly, and accountability - or the lack of it.

Friends, I will be in conversation with Julian Mckenzie about his new book *Black Aces: Essential Stories From Hockey's Black Trailblazers*.
Catch us this Friday, February 27 at 7 pm at Another Story Bookshop in Toronto.
Prestianniβs defence seems to be to claim he used a homophobic slur rather than a racist one.
Benfica claim to oppose racism while posting videos to discredit Real playersβ claims before investigation.
All after Mourinhoβs victim blaming.
Shameless stuff.

For me, one of the most interesting happenings at the Olympics was Eileen Gu and how she managed her press conferences. I weighed in on whether a question posed to her ny John Weaver of AFP was fair or not.

The USA men's hockey team won an incredible game. No doubt. But they went on to participate in insulting their women counterparts with Trump in a manner that was cheap and vulgar. A blasted shame and wasted opportunity that could have inspired and sparked joy.
I wrote this essay for @theglobeandmail.com: At the Olympics, politics fully infuses sports. Ukrainian Olympian Vladyslav Heraskevych sacrificed his dream, punctured the myth that the Olympics are not political, & exposed the IOCβs selective morality www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...
Have you been watching speed skating? We have! @amirarose.bsky.social tells you why she is rooting for Erin Jackson, who is in tomorrow's 500m final, and Brittany Bowe, who has team pursuit and 1500m coming up. From our Olympics preview, part 2: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/e...
And if you want to revisit @shireenahmed.bsky.social's interview with Erin Jackson before Pyeongchang in 2018, you still have time! www.burnitalldownpod.com/episodes/40 or podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/e...
"We're seeing a big shift to Asians being dominant in snow sports," she added. "I've had aunts telling me that I shouldn't snowboard, get a real career, focus on school. It's cool to see that shift happening."
This NPR story on Chloe Kim and Gaon Choi is lovely.
Here I explore the emergence of non-traditonal winter sports countries at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics.
Why and how did they get there when there is more sand than snow? How are countries building their winter sports programs?
My latest for CBC Sports / CBC Olympics.

Laila Edwards becomes the first Black woman from USA to score a goal in Olympic hockey. #MilanoCortinaOlympics2026
Arbitrary and vacuous.
Rules created by an elite are insufficient to work with the compexities of the real world because sports ARE political.
Organizers of the Milan Cortina Olympics say the national mint of Italy is ready to repair the faulty medal fixings for athletes.
We are witnessing how governing bodies and decision makers in sport choose to politicize, permit expression and/or activism. We are also witnessing how they conveniently ignore or ban it.
Thank you!
Thank you, Andrew. π«Άπ½
As part of the CBC Olympics 2026 Milano-Cortina coverage, I wrote about Lindsey Vonn's crash, the risks of sport, and why athletes make the decisions they make.
Thank you to mental performance consultant Georgia Ens for her insight.

Vice President JD Vance gets roundly booed at the opening ceremony of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics. "Those are a lot of boos for him, whistling jeering," says the presenter. US athletes receive a warm welcome from fans, though.
BIAD is baaaaaaack! And this #MilanoCortina2026 Winter Olympics preview is pureπ₯. Great to hear the entire team back in action: @shireenahmed.bsky.social @amirarose.bsky.social @brendaelsey.bsky.social @jessicawluther.com & @lindsaygibbs.bsky.social They haven't missed a beat.
