An image of the Andromeda spiral galaxy orientated vertically against a starry backdrop
It's been raining over the UK for what seems like forever but back when it was just cold, I captured a few photons from my back garden. They'd taken 2.5 million years to get there so I figured a few more weeks before I shared them wouldn't hurt. #Andromeda
Thanks so much to @mostly-books.bsky.social for hosting my daughter for work experience today. She had a blast! And getting her to write reviews to display with her favourite books? Genius.
I did. It was raining. You'll just have to enjoy it for the rest of us! (if you can take the responsibility)
The news in haiku:
G4 storm rages,
Above 8 oktas of cloud,
Space Weather FOMO!
Mind blowing stuff, thanks Chris!
What's the latest on 3I/Atlas?
Knowing you, that's going to be one heck of a good sentence though.
The fascists are organising a carol concert in London to "draw attention to unchecked immigration and the fading of our cultural heritage".
What would Woody do?
Write an anti-fascist Xmas carol and sing it at the counter demo.

Things You Can Make ChatGPT Write for You - Hayley DeRoche Your last words But before them What to murmur to a lover in bed What to say in the group chat when someone's Sister mother brother is dead and The apology you could never quite get right for a friend And hell why not make the robot compose your proposal Your wedding toast, too Your best friend's birthday roast You could ask it to write a custom lullaby For the baby snuffling at your breast. You can cradle to grave away Every warm human word You could ever have said And when they chisel your gravestone For your final rest We can ask ChatGPT Because it knew you best
Love it π
AR 4274 is rotating back into Earth's firing line for the 3rd time! πβοΈ It's been busy throwing out eruptions while on the farside, along with other ARs keeping things lively. The recent M-class flare and latest data suggests it may still be quite complex π

Those drums are *huge*!
Marvellous! This will be the soundtrack to my analysis this afternoon.
Evokes memories of the goth nightclub 'Benedicts' in Boscombe in the 1980s. Wall-to-wall gloom with music playing over scenes from Eraserhead shown on repeat.
Seconded!

Well, you would say that.

Looks like a theta aurora to me. Coincidence?

Full moon with upper right side still in the Earth's shadow as the total lunar eclipse ended. View from Oxfordshire, UK.
Much swearing as my whizzy telescope insisted on a software update as the eclipse ended and clouds rolled in, but I got something!
When did we stop talking about lunar eclipses and start talking instead about blood moons? Are we now to avoid their scientific wonder in favour of dread-laden hyperbole?
Congratulations Roger!
Now laugh at my joke!

I've been in that church. It was genuinely moving.
I'm looking forward to meeting you!
This.
Wow.
