Well, here’s what I heard: it was more a underhanded slap in the face to Bowie. Elton was jealous as Elton is not so much an artist as an entertainer, Bowie was an artist. I always felt the line, “Mars is a lonely place to raise your kids” was the slap. Just my opinion.
