Natural gas price spike from Trumpโs Iran war surges coal demand in Europe and parts of Asia. War and energyโฆ. @financialtimes.com

I just posted my (unfortunately) ever-relevant song "Liberated Carbon" on #SustainWhat with annotated lyrics. I wrote it in 2003 during the Iraq War. This line keeps reverberating: โซ We sent an army to the desert to keep this country free - and to liberate some carbon, baby, for you and me..." โฌ 1/

The big picture: Fueled by fracking, the U.S. has been the world's largest natural gas producer since 2011. Since 2022, it's also been the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the fastest-growing segment of global gas trade.
Yes, but: The moat isn't impenetrable. And if substantially more American natural gas gets exported, it could raise heating and electricity bills.
Why it matters: Natural gas hasn't, historically, drawn the same headlines as the more volatile oil markets. But it's increasingly central to the economy โ including powering the AI boom....
Amy Harder at Axios energy: America's natural gas bounty is acting like a moat, largely shielding the U.S. from price spikes while much of the world reels from escalating unrest in the Middle East. 1/
The bridge in my song Liberated Carbon remains sadly too relevant: โ we sent an army to the desert to keep this country, free, and to deliberate some carbon, baby, for you and meโฆโ

The moon going from full moon to a red moon and starting to go back to a normal full moon, then my camera battery door fell off.
Here's my first edit on the March 3rd Lunar Eclipse. 15 moon shots, 1 foreground. Taken over a 3 hourish period.

Yes! Know her?
๐บ๐ฆPresident Zelenskyy: Ukrainians live under thousands of Russian strikes with various types of weapons. In the last week of winter alone, Russia used more than 1,720 attack drones, nearly 1,300 guided aerial bombs, and over 100 missiles of various types against Ukraine.

They were going to pass rules to phase out gas stoves, until they received 20,000 public comments against the regulations. Except, oops, it turns out the comments were generated by AI.
THIS.
A preventive strike, in which the powerful hit the weaker state, is considered illegal. An example would be Russiaโs decision to invade Ukraine, which the United States and much of the world denounced as a gross violation of the international order. 3/3
In international law, the difference between a war of necessity and a war of choice is huge. A pre-emptive strike โ where one nation sees an attack massing across the river or the ocean and strikes first โ is considered legitimate. 2/
