"These things can happen slowly over time," she says, "so unlike other medical conditions, they don't indicate they're in pain or something is wrong right away."
Fully promoting pet wellness, Dr. Karyn says, "making sure they don't have disease in their mouth is vital."
"Animals often do not show signs of dental pain, so it's hard to know it's occurring."
Some signs that may indicate dental disease include:
– Breath changes
– Pain when toothbrushing
She performs dozens of vital dental surgeries monthly for pets who would otherwise have nowhere to turn ❤️🩹
On the subject of pet dental health, she shares some important insights:
"Dental disease is the most common disease that animals have," she says, citing a 90% occurrence in cats & dogs.
“If you saw a wound on your pet's side or leg, you would bring them to the vet! We often can’t see dental disease, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn't fix it."

He doesn't need any day-to-day care aside from prescription food, but would love to find an adopter who can keep him feeling his best & understands his prognosis may change.

He’s been doing great in foster care, settling into routine and already house- & crate-trained (he even puts himself to bed for crate naps).
