Cheap oil is not your birthright. Living your life behind the wheel is an utter waste. Your car is your master.

Seriously. If I hear anyone shrieking about the price of gasoline because they've never even imagined using the bus or riding a bike or living in the city where they can walk, I am going to shriek back at them. I've been through a few oil shocks and it's the same s*** every time.
Buy a bicycle. Buy an electric bicycle. Buy a transit pass. Join a carshare. Sell your suburban house. Sell your car.

I see that
Oh, definitely. He's an essential despot.
Portrait of Greg Bovino during his stay in MN
Portrait of Kristin Noem as head of DHS and hatred-filled accuser of local saints Good and Pretti.
Keep in mind that the watercolor Despot Series is having real political takedown effects. Noting Despots #1 and #2, Creepy Bovino and Kristi "Brooke Shields-era" Noem are now forced out of Minnesota.
Painted portrait of a white-haired, blue eyed male with a blue suit, blue tie and white shirt, also wearing a performance -based US flag pin

How many billions of dollars in lost revenue because we insist on preserving MSP's in-town highways? It's absurd. Hey @governorwalz.mn.gov, hey @mndot.mn.gov, pause the #RethinkingI94 project and redesign the transportation network to support new homes and jobs!

People say BlueSky is an echo chamber but we have road cyclists, gravel cyclists, mountain bikers, single speeders, fixie riders, cargo bike riders, e-bike riders, hybrid riders, recumbent riders, bikepackers, randonneurs, and I'm sure we even have a few unicyclists among us
Feels like it already
I suppose I could ask them directly but do you think the University of St. Thomas is lobbying to have 280 connected directly to Cretin so they have a less impeded car chute for their car-burdened staff? That will end well.
Good oped about riverside toxic waste and the questionable commitment of our state agency to protect us. Follow the money, always.
ββ¦disabled people are actually less likely to drive than nondisabled people and more likely to get around by walking and rolling and taking transit. Car-heavy cities are also disproportionately dangerous for disabled folksβ¦β

Ask not what your representative will do for you (nothing), ask how you can make your representative so miserable they quit their job
STUDY: Despite conventional wisdom that increases in vehicle fuel efficiency results in decreased gasoline consumption, Jevonsβ Paradox holds. For every 1 mile per gallon of increased fuel efficiency thereβs an associated 1.2 mile increase in vehicle miles travelled.
Better cars = higher emissions.
And commuters on Minneapolis and Saint Paul parkways pass like amoral maniacs if you drive 25 on a 20 mph
"...by tearing highways out of their innermost downtown cores or converting them to boulevards, cities can unlock billions of dollars of redevelopment potential, increase badly-needed property tax revenues, and reduce individual households' commute costs..."
It's time to PAUSE #RethinkingI94
BogotΓ‘ shows what action looks like.
- 1,400 electric buses.
- 560km of cycle lanes.
- Solar cable cars to the mountains.
- Clean air zones.
- Urban forests.
Air pollution down 24% in six years β with a growing population.
This is what courage + policy can do!
Measuring/predicting GHG on highways, good, a critical goal. But preventing any other icky environmental impacts of metro-area highways "through vehicle electrification"? π No doubt a job posting from 2015.
Many thanks! βοΈ

Good morning my beauties π Here's a Saturday action that costs nothing but 5 minutes. The I-94 plan is ridiculous and MnDOT must do better. Let's get 10,000 letters out to decision makers (currently 5330). Thank you for this opportunity, @ourstreetsmn.org
Ranked in order of lethal addiction
1. Driving
2. Fentanyl
We're a community wracked by the need to own, manage and drive cars and trucks, no matter how much they harm us and our neighbors, no matter our political or environmental beliefs, no matter anything. It's driving or nothing. #Pause94
This is amazing.

no better evidence that the st-paulification of minneapolis continues apace
Here is the easiest way to let @governorwalz.mn.gov and your elected and appointed officials and MnDOT engineers know that you want an immediate pause in the highway project. Send a @theactionnetwork.bsky.social letter: Pause the Rethinking I-94 Project. Takes 5 minutes, max. Write one here:
I see that. I just don't understand how mndot can't draw a couple of tamed alternatives and run them through legit modeling. Maybe the standard road catalog works on a rural project, but not here! We have such an amazing opportunity π
