it's like being blamed for your kid being autistic is just another fucking tragedy in the horrible ordeal of having an autistic burden-child. it lets that narrative continue and thrive. you don't have to make room for autistic people saying their lives are rich and valuable
it just feels like a ~feminist~ way to deflect the story from being about society turning entirely to look autists in the face and tell us our lives aren't worth living and focus instead on the parents of autistic children, who already are the only socially acceptable experts on us
this thread really resonated with me. i care that mothers (and, to a lesser extent, all parents) are getting blamed for having autistic kids but i care more that they are trying to eliminate people like me from society. it just feels like a ~feminist~ way to keep avoiding letting autists talk
