When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.
We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason.

OP says GPS might get disabled, but remember that GPS is only one version of GNSS. There are 4 global systems that do the same thing (GLONASS, BDS, & Galileo). You can get units that support all the standards. (your phone does, but a separate one is good).
Getting a paper phone directory is also a good idea. (866-329-7118 for a free one)
Something I'll be doing in the next couple of days is downloading the entirety of Open Street Map, as well as Wikipedia.
