Happy Family Day. After debuting in Alberta 36 years ago, a February holiday now exists in most provinces. This is a button produced by the Alberta government to celebrate that first one in 1990.
Growing up in Regina, my parents were friends with his aunt and uncle. We ended up buying a tent trailer from John’s parents in Zehner in the late 70s. I remember the drive to the farm to get it. John’s real last name was Agopsowicz - not very Hollywood friendly, so understandable why he changed it.

Growing up in Regina within walking distance of Taylor Field, I know how much this Grey Cup Championship means to Rider fans across the country & around the world. It doesn’t happen often and it’s a great feeling. Big thanks to the dedicated players & coaches that brought it home for Rider Nation.🏆

Before there was podcasting as a side hustle for many celebrities, and before TV became common place, there was radio. This ad from a 1946 edition of the Saturday Evening Post I have in my collection shows a number of celebrities with successful acting careers who also had radio shows.
I stumbled across this list of NHL player salaries published in the Edmonton Journal that I saved from the last season the Oilers won the Stanley Cup. How things have changed since then.
As my Oilers prepare to take on the Florida Panthers in a Stanley Cup final rematch, I wanted to share some images from this Panthers inaugural 1993 season media guide, which I just stumbled upon while cleaning out some boxes in my basement. Note the first advertiser that appears in the media guide.

In 1890, the Tariff Act came into place in the United States. It placed tariffs on imports of up to 50%.
While touted as a way to build American industry, there was also the hope it would force an annexation of Canada. It backfired.

The randomness of wildfires moving through urban areas can be hard to explain. I look back to these types of fires that our news team in Alberta covered over the last decade or so, and it boggles the mind how many homes were just randomly skipped by flames in Slave Lake, Fort McMurray, and Jasper.
Honoured and humbled by the 💕 shown to me by my colleagues on my final day before retirement from 24 years as assignment editor at CTV Edmonton. Wow!! Thank you for making it a very special day. You are all truly the best.
