Tbf South Korea hasn’t executed anyone since 1997 due to an unofficial moratorium on executions. You can still be sentenced to death but it’s effectively life in prison so long as they never lift the moratorium. (Iirc there’s 50~60 people currently on death row there)

Technically there’s a moratorium on executions since 1998 in South Korea so if you’re sentenced to death you basically have life in prison. If they ever lift the moratorium though they’ll start executing everyone who’s been sentenced.
