Which side of the dividing line between conservatives and reactionaries do you think Shabana Mahmood's asylum and immigration rules fall on?

He says:-

the mainstream of this country has no desire to go back to the bad old days where racism, homophobia, misogyny and other social evils were more prevalent.

But this is exactly what reform represents and why people vote for them.

Freudian slip?

Maybe they thought you were a bit short on loo paper.

Absolutely, and it is such an easy win for the government. If they get the justice system functioning correctly and people see timely justice then people will stop saying Britain is Broken.

I don't think that domestic renewable energy production is less resilient than relying on imported LPG for gas turbines.

I think one of the points that people are making is that a lot of defendants are advised to go for a jury trial because the case will be delayed by several years which would reduce chances of conviction or possibily dropped.
They are more likely to plead guilty if the trial is imminent (hearsay?)

Pretty sure there is a quote from him somewhere where he confirms a recommendation that jury trials should be restricted. Will check.

I guess Sir Brian Leveson disagrees with him.

You don't need an excuse to visit Lincoln Cathedral!

Maybe we shouldn't have shut down our coal fired power stations?

I've found Aljazeera suprisingly good.

Banning further licences is just virtue signalling.

Football shouldn't adapt to Islam. Islam needs to adapt to the modern world. Other religions have done this so why don't they?

03.03.2026 18:30 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

You are absolutely correct. It would be insane to try and play professional football if you follow medieval religious practices.

Oil needs warships. Solar, wind & batteries don’t.

20% of global oil flows through one narrow strait. Tankers. Navies. Missiles. Risk premiums.

Sunlight isn’t shipped. Wind isn’t escorted. Storage isn’t blockaded.

Energy security is being rewritten. #Bettrification #Renewables #LFP #BESS #EVsβš‘πŸ”‹πŸŒ

When oil prices are doubling, 1p or 2p is neither here nor there. How many folk remember a penny off a pint?

Milliband should be banging on about the security of renewables instead.

03.03.2026 11:07 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

A lot of companies do this already and it's added to annual leave.
Also pretty sure not many folk follow Lent.
Islam needs to modernise, in the same way as some religions accept female bishops and gay marriage.
They could have waited half an hour to break their fast at half time.

These kinds of goodwill gestures, although well intentioned, are misguided. They play into the hands of Reform. I'm pretty sure Farage will make a meal of this.
The game should have kicked off earlier or later so that they could break their fast either at half-time or before the game kicked off.

No religious sect should impose their beliefs on everyone else, particularly a football game. They could have not played or waited half an hour for half time.

Well put. Sooner or later he is going to have to admit that he should have stuck with the day job.

Thank god we still have experts who know what they are talking about. You should write a response to the FT. I'm sure they'll publish it.

The 40c Smile: Immunity From Oil Shocks - Oil shocks hit households. EVs don’t. How electric vehicles insulate you from war-driven fuel spikesβ€”and offer the first real consumer exit in 100 years.

Iran war = gas price shock incoming. ICE drivers brace. EV drivers plug in. Oil ties your budget to conflicts 8,000km away, shipping lanes, petrostates & war premiums. Electricity ties you to the panel on your roof & infrastructure already built. Not ideology > insulation + control. #Bettrification

I'm very dissappointed that you support retrospective legislation. It really is punitive.

..errr, this is the Mail. Anybody that believes in this crap thinks every vote Reform loses is fixed!

Also reinforces the case for renewables. We just can't rely on the Gulf states for fuel.

I can get 35p locally and 9p with off peak. I think the government should make off peak public charging as cheap as possible. Paid for by dropping the EV Grant which mostly goes to fleet hire cars.

What is the cost of your cheapest charging pont?
